  1. Chapter 1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
  2. Chapter 2Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
  3. Chapter 3Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
  4. Chapter 4And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.
  5. Chapter 5This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
  6. Chapter 6And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
  7. Chapter 7And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
  8. Chapter 8And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged;
  9. Chapter 9And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.
  10. Chapter 10Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.
  11. Chapter 11And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
  12. Chapter 12Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
  13. Chapter 13And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.
  14. Chapter 14And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations;
  15. Chapter 15After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
  16. Chapter 16Now Sarai Abram’s wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.
  17. Chapter 17And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
  18. Chapter 18And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
  19. Chapter 19And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
  20. Chapter 20And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.
  21. Chapter 21And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken.
  22. Chapter 22And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
  23. Chapter 23And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: these were the years of the life of Sarah.
  24. Chapter 24And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things.
  25. Chapter 25Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.
  26. Chapter 26And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.
  27. Chapter 27And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I.
  28. Chapter 28And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.
  29. Chapter 29Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of the people of the east.
  30. Chapter 30And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die.
  31. Chapter 31And he heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that was our father’s; and of that which was our father’s hath he gotten all this glory.
  32. Chapter 32And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.
  33. Chapter 33And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.
  34. Chapter 34And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.
  35. Chapter 35And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Beth–el, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.
  36. Chapter 36Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.
  37. Chapter 37And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.
  38. Chapter 38And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah.
  39. Chapter 39And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.
  40. Chapter 40And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.
  41. Chapter 41And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.
  42. Chapter 42Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?
  43. Chapter 43And the famine was sore in the land.
  44. Chapter 44And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men’s sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man’s money in his sack’s mouth.
  45. Chapter 45Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all them that stood by him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren.
  46. Chapter 46And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beer–sheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac.
  47. Chapter 47Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Goshen.
  48. Chapter 48And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold, thy father is sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.
  49. Chapter 49And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.
  50. Chapter 50And Joseph fell upon his father’s face, and wept upon him, and kissed him.
