Genesis 11:14
“And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:”
KJV
Read in Genesis 11Meaning
At age thirty, Salah fathers Eber, continuing the selected line descending from Shem.
Read carefully
The relationship between Eber's name and later terms such as 'Hebrew' is important but linguistically and historically more complex than this verse alone can establish.
Reflection
A brief genealogical notice can become significant because of where that family line leads in the larger biblical story.
