The Lord Will

Genesis 12:16

β€œAnd he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.”

KJV

Read in Genesis 12

Meaning

Pharaoh enriches Abram because of Sarai, so Abram's plan appears materially successful even while Sarai remains in the royal household.

Read carefully

Material gain in the verse is not a moral endorsement. The narrative deliberately places Abram's benefit beside Sarai's vulnerability before divine intervention reverses the situation.

Reflection

A strategy can produce short-term advantage while still being ethically compromised. Genesis 12 separates apparent success from faithfulness.
