Genesis 13:16
“And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.”
KJV
Read in Genesis 13Meaning
The dust image intensifies the promise by portraying Abram's future descendants as beyond ordinary counting.
Read carefully
The dust comparison is figurative language about abundance, not a mathematical population prediction to be calculated literally.
Reflection
Biblical promise often uses vivid images to enlarge hope beyond what present circumstances make visible.
