“And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.”

Meaning

The king asks for the people back and offers Abram the goods recovered in the rescue campaign.

Abram's answer in the following verses is necessary to understand why the proposal creates a moral issue for him.

The chapter tests not only how Abram uses power but also how he handles the rewards that power can produce.
