Genesis 18:16
“And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way.”
KJV
Read in Genesis 18Meaning
The men get up, look toward Sodom, and Abraham accompanies them for part of their departure.
Read carefully
The movement marks a narrative transition; knowledge of Genesis 19 should not cause later details to be imported prematurely into every phrase here.
Reflection
A scene of hospitality gives way to a scene of justice, linking Abraham's household story to the wider moral world around him.
