Genesis 18:21
“I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.”
KJV
Read in Genesis 18Meaning
The LORD says he will go down and see whether the conduct of Sodom corresponds to the outcry that has reached him.
Read carefully
The anthropomorphic language communicates careful judgment within the narrative; it need not be read as a denial of divine knowledge.
Reflection
The verse presents judgment as responsive to truth and evidence, a significant frame for Abraham's appeal to justice in the verses that follow.
