The Lord Will

Genesis 18:25

β€œThat be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

KJV

Read in Genesis 18

Meaning

Abraham rejects the idea that righteous and wicked should receive the same fate and appeals to the Judge of all the earth to do what is just.

Read carefully

The verse supports moral confidence in divine justice, not human license to declare whole modern populations wicked or to carry out punishment on God's behalf.

Reflection

Abraham's boldness rests not on superiority but on an appeal to the character of the Judge whose justice he trusts.
