Genesis 20:4

“But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?”

Meaning

Abimelech states that he has not approached Sarah and appeals to the integrity of his conduct in light of what he knew.

The verse concerns responsibility under incomplete information; it does not erase the unequal power surrounding Sarah's situation.

Intent and knowledge matter morally, while responsible action also requires response once fuller truth becomes known.
