“And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.”

Meaning

Daylight finds Jacob moving onward from Penuel with a limp caused by the injury received during the struggle.

Jacob's limp is a lasting consequence in this story, not a rule that every genuine encounter with God must produce injury or disability.

The transformed Jacob does not leave untouched: blessing and vulnerability remain together as he goes to meet Esau.
