Genesis 4:26

“And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord. ”

Meaning

Enosh is born to Seth, and the narrative says that people began to call on the LORD's name. The chapter ends with explicit invocation of God.

The phrase can denote public worship or invocation; it should not be forced into the claim that no earlier human being ever prayed or addressed God.

After a chapter dominated by jealousy, murder and vengeance, the closing line directs attention toward worship and dependence on God.
