Genesis 5:9
“And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan:”
KJV
Read in Genesis 5Meaning
At 90 years Enosh fathers Kenan, and the named line continues without a narrative episode between the generations.
Read carefully
The brevity of the notice does not imply insignificance; genealogical form conveys continuity through compressed information.
Reflection
Much of human continuity happens in ordinary succession rather than dramatic scenes, and Genesis gives that continuity a place in the story.
