Genesis 7:1
“And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.”
KJV
Read in Genesis 7Meaning
God commands Noah and his household to enter the ark because Noah has been seen as righteous in his generation.
Read carefully
Righteous in his generation is a positive covenantal description, not a claim that Noah was absolutely sinless in every respect.
Reflection
The story moves from warning to concrete obedience: Noah must now enter the place of preservation God has provided.
