Genesis 7:24
“And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.”
KJV
Read in Genesis 7Meaning
The chapter closes by stating that the floodwaters prevail upon the earth for 150 days.
Read carefully
The 150 days describe the period of prevailing waters and should not be collapsed into the earlier forty-day period of rainfall.
Reflection
The long duration leaves the story suspended in judgment and preservation until Genesis 8 begins to describe the waters receding.
