Psalm 135:5
“For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.”
KJV
Read in Psalm 135Meaning
The claim contrasts Israel’s God with rival deities within the psalm’s worship setting.
Read carefully
Read Psalm 135:5 inside its literary unit and the whole of Psalm 135; the verse does not support that overclaim.
Reflection
Let confession of faith deepen loyalty without demeaning people of other religions.
