Psalm 136:17
“To him which smote great kings: for his mercy endureth for ever:”
KJV
Read in Psalm 136Meaning
Ancient conflict memory now follows wilderness guidance within Israel’s story.
Read carefully
The verse remembers ancient conflict; it does not transfer a conquest mandate to modern actors.
Reflection
Keep ancient battle language anchored to its historical-literary setting.
