The Lord Will

Psalm 5:9

β€œFor there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.”

KJV

Read in Psalm 5

Meaning

The verse moves from mouth to inward parts, throat, and tongue. Its anatomical sequence depicts a whole system of unfaithfulness: what is within becomes speech that opens like a grave and manipulates through flattery. This is not a license to call every mistake, tactful word, or sincere compliment deceptive. The imagery concerns coherent, destructive falsehood that conceals harmful intent and undermines communal safety.

Destructive speech brought before the divine Judge

Destructive speech and rebellion are named before God, to whom judgment is entrusted.

Read carefully

The verse describes sustained, internally coherent destructive deception, not every error, polite expression, or sincere word of praise.

Reflection

Evaluate patterns rather than isolated impressions, compare words with conduct, protect vulnerable people, and answer manipulation with documented truth.
