Psalm 72:14
“He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.”
KJV
Read in Psalm 72Meaning
Within “Rescue of the needy,” verse 14 treats the lives of the oppressed as precious and calls for rescue from violence and exploitation; this detail advances the unit's argument and should not be detached from the whole psalm.
Read carefully
Read Psalm 72:14 inside its literary unit and the movement of Psalm 72; its imagery and claims are constrained by that context.
Reflection
Respond to the verse's specific emphasis — treats the lives of the oppressed as precious and calls for rescue from violence and exploitation — while reading it together with the surrounding lines of Psalm 72.
