Psalm 72:17
“His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.”
KJV
Read in Psalm 72Meaning
Within “Flourishing and blessing,” verse 17 connects the enduring royal name with blessing that reaches beyond one people to the nations; this detail advances the unit's argument and should not be detached from the whole psalm.
Read carefully
Read Psalm 72:17 inside its literary unit and the movement of Psalm 72; its imagery and claims are constrained by that context.
Reflection
Respond to the verse's specific emphasis — connects the enduring royal name with blessing that reaches beyond one people to the nations — while reading it together with the surrounding lines of Psalm 72.
