Psalm 72:6
“He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.”
KJV
Read in Psalm 72Meaning
Within “Enduring righteousness and peace,” verse 6 compares righteous rule to life-giving rain that refreshes cut grass and waters the earth; this detail advances the unit's argument and should not be detached from the whole psalm.
Read carefully
Read Psalm 72:6 inside its literary unit and the movement of Psalm 72; its imagery and claims are constrained by that context.
Reflection
Respond to the verse's specific emphasis — compares righteous rule to life-giving rain that refreshes cut grass and waters the earth — while reading it together with the surrounding lines of Psalm 72.
