Psalm 89:4
“Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.”
KJV
Read in Psalm 89Meaning
This strong promise creates the tension that dominates the second half of the psalm when the royal line appears shattered.
Read carefully
It belongs to the biblical Davidic covenant and must be interpreted within that canonical setting.
Reflection
Bring the tension honestly to God rather than pretending it does not exist.
