Pray not to fall into temptation

Lord, lead me away from the paths where I know I am weak. Do not let me confuse confidence with wisdom or closeness to temptation with spiritual strength. Teach me to recognize danger early and to leave before desire becomes intention and intention becomes action.

When I am tempted to rationalize a private conversation, hidden affection, physical closeness, or a situation I would be uncomfortable explaining openly, give me clarity. Help me choose light over secrecy and obedience over excitement.

Guard my heart, because from it flow the issues of life. Give me discipline over my eyes, my imagination, my messages, my time, and the places where I allow intimacy to grow. Where a relationship has become too emotionally or physically charged, show me what boundary is necessary and give me courage to keep it.

Remind me that saying no to temptation is not saying no to love. Teach me to love people in a way that does not take what belongs to another covenant, does not encourage betrayal, and does not make another person dependent on me in a way that weakens their marriage.

Deliver me from evil, strengthen me in weakness, and make faithfulness more precious to me than a moment of closeness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
