Pray for forgiveness after adultery

Merciful Father, I come to You without excuses. I acknowledge what I have done and the trust I have broken. I do not want to hide behind desire, loneliness, weakness, or circumstance. I confess my sin before You and ask for mercy.

Your Word says that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I ask not only to be relieved of guilt, but to be changed. Give me a truthful heart that accepts responsibility, a humble spirit that does not manipulate forgiveness, and the courage to face the consequences of my choices.

Where another person has been wounded, teach me to seek what is right without demanding immediate trust or reconciliation. Show me what repentance requires in practice: honesty, changed behavior, appropriate boundaries, patience, and faithfulness over time.

Do not let shame drive me farther from You. Let Your mercy lead me to repentance. Create in me a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Teach me to walk differently, to refuse the patterns that led me here, and to honor marriage and covenant from this point forward.

Thank You that failure does not place me beyond Your grace. Forgive me, cleanse me, and make the fruit of repentance visible in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
