Pray for strength

Father, I am tired. The demands of these days have worn me down, and my own strength has run out. Your Word promises that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength — that they will mount up with wings like eagles, run and not grow weary, walk and not faint. So I come to wait on You, rather than to strive harder in my own power.

You do not grow weary or faint, and You give power to the weak and strength to those who have none left. Pour Your strength into the empty places in me — body, mind, and spirit. Lift the weight I cannot carry on my own, and steady me where I am ready to collapse. You are my refuge and my strength, a very present help in trouble; I run to You.

Where I am tempted to give up, give me endurance for one more day, one more step. Where I am discouraged, lift my eyes from the size of the task to the greatness of the One I serve. Help me to stop measuring my own strength and start trusting Yours, which never fails.

I choose to believe that Your grace is sufficient for me and that Your power is made perfect in my weakness. So I will not despise my weakness or hide it, but bring it to You, that Your strength may rest upon me. Let the joy of the Lord be my strength even now — a deep gladness that does not depend on how I feel. And remind me again of Your promise: do not fear, for You are with me; do not be dismayed, for You are my God; You will strengthen me and help me and uphold me with Your righteous right hand.

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Be my strength today, Lord, and tomorrow, and for as long as the road requires. In Jesus' name, Amen.
