Samaria
Samaria refers both to the capital city founded by Omri and to the surrounding central hill region. The Old Testament associates the city with the northern kingdom of Israel and its Assyrian conquest; the New Testament makes the wider region important in Jesus' ministry and the spread of the gospel.
