Esther 10:1
βAnd the king Ahasuerus laid a tribute upon the land, and upon the isles of the sea.β

Read in Esther 10Meaning
Esther 10:1 does not present the empire as transformed into an ideal kingdom after Haman's fall. The king still exercises broad fiscal authority over land and sea. The verse therefore grounds the book's ending in political continuity: Jewish deliverance and Mordecai's rise occur inside an empire that remains powerful and administratively demanding.
