The Lord Will

Genesis 2:7

β€œAnd the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”

KJV

Read in Genesis 2

Meaning

The human is both earthly and animated by God's life-giving breath: formed from dust, yet alive because God gives breath.

Read carefully

The verse describes the human becoming a living being; it should not automatically be converted into a complete later philosophical anatomy of body and soul.

Reflection

Human life combines humility and dignity. We are materially creaturely, yet every breath depends on life that is received rather than self-generated.
