Genesis 3:11
βAnd he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?β
KJV
Read in Genesis 3Meaning
God directs attention from the man's emotional state to the concrete command that was broken. Accountability concerns what happened, not only how the offender now feels.
Read carefully
The question 'Who told you?' is part of a sequence of examination. It should not be isolated as though knowledge of nakedness came merely from another speaker's information.
Reflection
Moral clarity often requires connecting present distress with the choices that preceded it. Naming the breached boundary is different from describing the discomfort that followed.
