Genesis 5:19
“And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:”
KJV
Read in Genesis 5Meaning
Jared lives 800 additional years after Enoch and has other sons and daughters not individually named.
Read carefully
The verse again demonstrates that the genealogy is selective and should not be treated as a complete census of every descendant.
Reflection
The named lineage advances within families larger than the brief genealogical record can display.
