Genesis 7:12
“And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.”
KJV
Read in Genesis 7Meaning
Rain continues for forty days and forty nights, exactly matching the duration announced before the flood.
Read carefully
The forty-day rain period is not the total duration of the flood; later verses explicitly describe waters prevailing for 150 days.
Reflection
The fulfillment of the announced duration reinforces the narrative's repeated pattern of warning followed by event.
