Genesis 7:17
“And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.”
KJV
Read in Genesis 7Meaning
As the flood increases through the forty-day period, the waters lift the ark above the earth.
Read carefully
The forty days here correspond to the intense rising phase and should not be confused with the later total of 150 days of prevailing waters.
Reflection
The same waters that overwhelm the land also bear up the vessel in which life is being preserved.
