Genesis 7:18
“And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.”
KJV
Read in Genesis 7Meaning
The floodwaters become increasingly powerful and extensive, while the ark remains afloat upon them.
Read carefully
The narrative emphasizes magnitude rather than supplying hydraulic data from which a complete modern flood model can be reconstructed.
Reflection
The scene holds danger and preservation together: the waters intensify, yet the ark continues to carry its occupants.
