Genesis 7:20
“Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.”
KJV
Read in Genesis 7Meaning
Genesis states that the waters rose fifteen cubits above the mountains they had covered.
Read carefully
Cubit length varied in the ancient world, so exact modern meter or foot conversions remain reconstructions rather than measurements supplied by Genesis.
Reflection
The numerical detail reinforces the narrative point that the floodwater had overtopped ordinary land refuges.
