Genesis 7:19
“And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.”
KJV
Read in Genesis 7Meaning
The flood is described in sweeping terms as covering even the high mountains under heaven.
Read carefully
The verse's universal language must be taken seriously while debates about geographic mechanism or scope should be distinguished from what the text itself states.
Reflection
The imagery removes ordinary places of refuge and underscores the total helplessness of the world outside the ark.
