Genesis 9:13

“I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.”

KJV

Meaning

The bow in the clouds is designated as the sign of God's covenant commitment toward the earth.

The text gives the rainbow covenant significance here; it does not require a claim about whether rainbows physically existed before this moment.

A familiar feature of the sky becomes a sign that points beyond itself to divine restraint and remembered promise.
